A really GREAT Yorkshire Show!

This year’s Great Yorkshire Show saw the first Cheese & Dairy Show in the brand new food hall; a multi-million pound investment offering more space, updated facilities, and a state of the art exhibition hall to be proud of.

The Wensleydale Creamery stand was busier than ever! Sampling our range of handcrafted cheeses, as well as Yorkshire Yogurt, we took old favourites such as Yorkshire Wensleydale, Wensleydale Blue, and Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries, as well as some exciting new varieties such as Yorkshire Wensleydale & Limoncello, and our truly Yorkshire collaboration; Mature Cheddar with Black Sheep Riggwelter Ale.

Visitors were invited to suggest names for our new coloured blue cheese, with the opportunity to win a hamper if their name is selected. Feedback on the cheese itself was fantastic, people loved the flavour and we received hundreds of suggestions! We’ll keep you posted on this.

The Cheese & Dairy Show was a great success for us:

Best Yogurt in Show – Yorkshire Yogurt (group of 4)

Gold – Kit Calvert, Yorkshire Wensleydale & Limoncello, Mature Cheddar with Black Sheep Riggwelter Ale

Silver – Yorkshire Yogurt (plain), Yorkshire Wensleydale, Red Leicester, Our New Coloured Blue, Naturally Oak Smoked Cheddar, Garsdale Yorkshire Wensleydale

Bronze – Wensleydale Blue, Double Gloucester with Onion & Chives, Cheshire

Whilst at the show, our MD David Hartley was invited to speak at a United Kingdom Trade & Investment (UKTI) seminar, on our export success and plans, and we also welcomed The Rt Hon Liz Truss MP to our stand – an advocate of protected food names.

Overall the show was fantastic; we had a brilliant few days, and planning has already begun for next year’s show! See you there…
