Unfortunately not! Wensleydale cheese can be and is made in counties around the UK. Only Yorkshire Wensleydale, which is protected with European protected food name status, is handcrafted in Wensleydale. To be sure that you are buying the “real thing”, look out for Yorkshire Wensleydale – this also applies to the cheese that we blend with ingredients, for example Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries.
We do not take bookings in the 1897 Coffee Shop. Simply turn up!
You do not need to book a table in Calvert's Restaurant either, however, if you are visiting during busier periods (ie school holidays and weekends) we advise you to book at table HERE to fit in with your visit

We only allow assistance dogs within our Visitor Centre. Dogs are welcome in the external areas of our site, and we are happy to provide water for them in our Coffee Shop garden. We do request that dogs are not left unattended in vehicles, for their own wellbeing.
Our Visitor Centre is fully accessible, and we also have designated disabled parking. If you require specific assistance please contact us ahead of your visit and we will be delighted to help.
We have ample parking on site at our Visitor Centre, which is free of charge.
You can now book online for the Cheese Experience here with the exception of larger groups. We welcome coaches and groups by prior arrangement, and offer a range of tailored packages.
Online tickets can be booked up to 24 hours in advance of the demonstration time. After this time, please purchase tickets at our Visitor Centre. We only sell a limited amount of tickets online to allow for people to purchase tickets on the day at our Visitor Centre.
We advise reserving your place on a cheese-making demonstration on arrival on days that these are available, to avoid disappointment!
We handcraft a variety of cheeses in different sizes, which can form the tiers of a wedding or celebration cake. We supply the cheeses direct to you, for you to decorate/assemble as you wish. We are on hand to advise how best to select these – please pop in to our Visitor Centre Cheese Shop and speak to a member of the team, call 01969 667664 or email us. You will also find locally made rich fruit cake in our Visitor Centre Cheese Shop and via our mail order service, which can form part or all of a cake. This is supplied as plain cake for you to decorate.
This is dependent upon the type of cheese, and the way it is packaged. All of our cheese is clearly labelled with instructions for storing and a best before date. For specific information please contact us. Normally our cheese is guaranteed for 4 weeks/28 days. You can also freeze our cheese: We advise wrapping portions in tin foil, labelling and can freeze for up to three months. Defrost in the fridge.
