Chelsea Pensioners enjoy Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese

London, 2nd December 2015: The Chelsea Pensioners enjoyed a taste of North Yorkshire as Wensleydale Creamery cheese was at the centre of the annual Ceremony of the Christmas Cheeses. The Wensleydale Creamery kindly donated over 5kg of their handcrafted cheese, including Wensleydale Blue, Yorkshire Wensleydale, and Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries, for the Chelsea Pensioners to enjoy over the festive season. Dating back over 300 years, the Centuries-old tradition began in 1692 when the Royal Hospital asked a local cheesemonger to provide the Pensioners with cheese as a tasty Christmas treat. Secretary of State visits Food Pioneers, The Wensleydale Creamery

The Wensleydale Creamery, home of the famous Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese, welcomed the Rt. Hon Elizabeth Truss MP, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on Friday 23rd October, to see the art of cheese-making in the Yorkshire Dales and sample our range of award-winning cheeses, butter and yogurt.
