Christmas Lunch & Shopping – All Under One Roof

To say we’re happy to be opening our doors 3^rd December is an understatement!

We’ve been working really hard to ensure that when you visit us from December 3rd, you can do so in a way that is safe for you and our staff.

Excitedly, we have packed our Cheese Shop full of handcrafted, artisan cheese from our Creamery just across the way and cheese from fantastic local cheesemakers too. You’ll also find our Limited Edition Festive Flavours including the ever-popular Mince Pie Yorkshire Wensleydale….and our waxed character Santa’s and Snowmen providing the most perfect stocking fillers.

We’re proud to support small businesses and have sourced the very finest accompaniments from local food producers including crackers, chutney, pickles, honey, charcuterie, oils and Yorkshire Butter to perfectly partner with our range of handcrafted cheese. You will also find locally made fruit cake, biscuits and sweet treats, along with craft ales, wine, port and artisan gin.

Our chef has designed a deliciously festive menu offering great value and outstanding quality so you can enjoy Christmas Lunch in the comfort of our spacious and airy Calvert’s Restaurant. Choose from delights such as a local roast turkey with all the trimmings, Sue’s homemade Christmas pudding with brandy sauce and a Christmas Cheese Toastie. Enjoy Three courses for £25, two for £20 or a sumptuous main for just £14.

A true, one-stop-shop… we’re here to help with everything you need to get you into the Christmas Spirit, even in these unusual times. Amongst the Christmas decorations, roast turkey and Michael Bublé music playing, you’ll understand that our priority is to keep you and our staff safe. Here is how we’re doing that:

• Increased cleaning will continue to take place throughout the Visitor Centre
• Hand sanitiser is available at the entrance and exits and throughout the site
• We can only accept contactless and card payments
• Face coverings are required in all parts of our Visitor Centre in line with current government guidelines unless seated at a table in Calvert’s Restaurant.
• Visitors are reminded to follow government guidance regarding households and support bubbles when visiting us.
• We are currently in ‘Tier 2’ – customers may only dine with us if they are from single households or support bubbles. Customers are reminded to check their tier & number of households dining to ensure all guidelines are adhered to.

Gift Shop

• Please respect 2m distancing indicated by the floor markings and signage
• We have reduced the number of our colleagues working in the shop and will be limiting the number of customers in the shop at any one time
• Please be prepared to queue outside at 2m distancing to enable us to manage safe numbers inside the shop
• We have introduced screens at the till points and created a system to checkout with reduced contact
• We are kindly asking customers not to handle produce and merchandise unless making a purchase

Cheese Shop

• Maximum 6 customers allowed in the Cheese Shop at one time, please use normal entrance and exit doors.
• There will be sanitising points upon entry and at various points throughout the shop
• We are kindly asking customers to refrain from handling produce unless making a purchase
• We are unable to offer samples

Calvert’s Restaurant

• New Winter menu, with breakfast, lunch, light bites, coffee, cake and Christmas Lunch
• Entry from our main entrance. If you have a restaurant reservation, please make this be known at the door for access through the shop to the restaurant.
• We have reduced the number of tables to increase distance spacing
• Table reservation between 12pm-2pm only. We welcome booking via phone 01969 667664, ext 3 or email reservations@wensleydale.co.uk or enquire in the Gift Shop
• Dedicated waitress for tables, with full service from order to pay at the table

Coffee Shop

• Closed during Winter
• Please note that breakfast, hot drinks, cakes, pastries, light bites and lunch available in Calvert’s Restaurant from 9.30am.

Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese Experience – including Cheese Making Viewing Gallery

• Please purchase tickets from our Gift Shop
• We are restricting numbers entering the Experience to ensure safe distancing
• Unfortunately, our Demonstration Area is closed
• Children’s interactive games will be closed
• Self-guided tour and we ask guests to respect social distancing throughout the Experience
• To reflect the above measures, we have reduced admission to £1 (adult) and under 12’s free
• Please use the additional sanitisation points at touch screens
