Enjoy a true taste of Yorkshire this Christmas with The Wensleydale Creamery

Christmas wouldn’t be complete without the taste of Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese from The Wensleydale Creamery, the famous award-winning cheese-makers based at Hawes in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales; renowned for its traditional cheese-making skills as well as being innovative with the blending of cheese with ingredients, and the development of new cheese and dairy products.

In the 25th year since four managers and a local businessman formed a management buyout of the Creamery, following its closure, The Wensleydale Creamery has completed a £5million investment; building a new dairy and developing its Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese Visitor Experience.

Taking a journey through the art of cheese-making, visitors can see the master cheese-makers handcrafting Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese from a new interactive Viewing Gallery at The Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre, complete with touch screens showing the entire cheese-making process, plus ‘behind the scenes’ footage. Many cheese-making secrets can be discovered, such as how cranberries are put into Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese, how blue cheese becomes blue, and how miniature cheeses are coated in wax.

Visitors can sit back, relax and enjoy the panoramic views of the Yorkshire Dales from the 1897 Coffee Shop as they indulge; whether that be embracing the well-known northern tradition of eating Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese with a slice of rich fruit cake or enjoying an ‘ultimate grilled cheese sandwich’ or Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese on toast. Alternatively, they can head to the welcoming Calvert’s Restaurant to enjoy daily specials, or try out the three course Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese Special.

A trip to The Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre is a must for those looking for unique Christmas gifts and combines shopping with fantastic festive food. Its well-stocked gift and cheese shop offers the opportunity to sample over 20 varieties of cheese – visitors can ‘build your own hamper’ and have it gift wrapped too!

The Creamery’s popular Christmas lunch menu, featuring its award-winning cheeses, is available seven days a week from 27th November to 30th December*, offering great quality and choice. Booking is essential!

Take advantage of the Christmas Shopping Evenings on Tuesday 5th and Thursday 21st December, 5-8pm, at the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre. With 20% off**, free mince pies and mulled wine, festive entertainment and food served in Calvert’s Restaurant – it’s not to be missed!
