Food & Drink Expo 2016 – The Round Up!

We were delighted to take a stand and bring The Wensleydale Creamery to this year’s Food & Drink Expo, to meet with contacts and customers old and new.

The show was vibrant and exciting with a wealth of different food and drink producers, wholesalers and independent businesses; all of whom were passionate about growing their businesses and working together.

On The Wensleydale Creamery stand we displayed our full range of handcrafted cheeses including Yorkshire Wensleydale (which has European protected food name status), Wensleydale Blue and Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries, as well as some delicious new blended cheese feature flavours that will be available throughout this coming year. One particular favourite was Yorkshire Wensleydale & Lemon, and Garsdale; Yorkshire Wensleydale with Roast Garlic & Chives, was well received too.

We were excited to reveal some new products such as our ‘mini whole’ 2.5kg traditionally matured cheeses, available in Kit Calvert & Wensleydale Blue, and innovative new blended cheese deli portion packs.

Our award-winning Yorkshire Yogurt was enjoyed by the many stand visitors who sampled it, and we unveiled our new large 400g pot of plain Yorkshire Yogurt.

New for the show this year was our fantastic display of ‘dishes inspired by the use of our cheese’, such as Yorkshire Wensleydale & Ginger Cheesecake, Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries and Apple Cake, and Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries dip. Other dishes included soup with Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese to crumble on top, local sausages made using Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries, and quiche made with a trio of cheese, including Yorkshire Wensleydale, of course!

Visitors could also sample the famous pairing of Yorkshire Wensleydale served with fruit cake. Our blended cheese slices, including Hot & Spicy Cheddar, Cheddar with Caramelised Onions and Cheddar with Cracked Black Pepper were used to melt on top of homemade burgers. Pork pies topped with Yorkshire Wensleydale caught the eye of many, as did the Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries Filo Parcels. All dishes were created by our talented Visitor Centre chef, and many of these can be enjoyed in Calvert’s Restaurant and 1897 Coffee Shop at our popular Visitor Centre in Hawes.

Our stand was busy throughout the show, and we enjoyed the opportunity to speak with so many fantastic businesses who are interested in buying or selling our cheese, yogurt and butter!

We’re already looking forward to returning in 2018!
