Friends of the Creamery: Cockett’s Bakery

A traditional Yorkshire pairing that can be traced back to 1871, Yorkshire Wensleydale and fruitcake isn’t just for Northern folk at Christmas… it’s a local delicacy that everyone needs to try!

Enjoy a thick wedge of our creamy, crumbly Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese alongside a slice of rich and sweet traditional Cockett’s fruit cake, to create the perfect balance of sweet and savoury, that’s a real feast for the senses.

Based in the market town of Hawes, just a stones throw from the Wensleydale Creamery, Cockett’s have been baking their award-winning fruitcakes since 1854. 

Now run by the fifth generation of the Cockett’s family, their fruitcake is enjoyed across the country and is popular both in our Yorkshire Wensleydale Visitor Centre, 1897 Coffee Shop and online through our website.

The team from Cockett’s will be joining us here at the Creamery as part of our Meet the Maker events on Wednesday 21^st December 1-3pm. Come along and sample their delicious cake alongside our own Yorkshire Wensleydale.

There’ll also be some special offers available on the day and in our Gift Shop in the run up to Christmas including 10% off each fruitcake and gift packs on the day.
