October Cheese of the Month: Naturally Oak Smoked Wensleydale

Looking for a cheese with an added punch of delicious flavour? Look no further than our October cheese of the month: Naturally Oak Smoked Wensleydale

With a golden rind that imparts a natural smoked flavour throughout the fresh creamy, crumbly Yorkshire Wensleydale, this smoked cheese pairs perfectly with charcuterie, Green Olives with Chilli & Black Pepper and bright, fruity red wines like Borsao Garnacha, making it the ideal addition to any platter for cosy nights in this autumn.

For committed smoked cheese lovers, this one’s a no brainer, but for those new to the idea, it’s subtle smoked notes make it the perfect cheese to get started with!

Let’s talk cooking.

Smoked cheese can be a great addition to a salad for an added kick of flavour and texture, but we love these Smoked Cheese and Onion Pasties from BBC Good Food, which are the perfect lunchtime treat, or how about a twist on a classic dinner with this Veggie Carbonara, where the subtle smokiness of the cheese pairs beautifully with the rich, creamy sauce.

Scandinavia comes to Wensleydale!

Did you know the Swedes love to pair their coffee with cheese? As cheese accompaniments go, coffee isn’t the one you might reach for first, but this quirky pairing is a match made in culinary heaven!

We partnered with artisan coffee roasters 200 Degrees earlier in the year to bring their delicious range duo to our Visitor Centre, and now pair their filter coffee served in our Calvert’s Restaurant, with a cube of our Naturally Oak Smoked Wensleydale so you can try this deliciously quirky pairing for yourself.
