Success for the Wensleydale Creamery at the International Cheese Awards 2015

The Wensleydale Creamery is celebrating a series of successes at the International Cheese Awards, held at the 2015 Nantwich Show. The famous cheese-makers scooped nine awards, including a prestigious gold accolade for its new Yorkshire Yogurt, which also won the award for ‘Best Yogurt in Show’. 

 

The Creamery, based at Hawes in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, picked up three golds including one for its Dales Butter, two silvers for Yorkshire Wensleydale, two bronzes and two ‘very highly commended’ accolades. The International Cheese Awards received a record number of 4,615 entries from 31 countries around the world this year, with 200 expert judges putting their eyes, noses and taste buds to work.

 

David Hartley, Managing Director at The Wensleydale Creamery, said: “We’re delighted to have topped off a fantastic day at the world’s biggest cheese show with so many commendable awards. To win the best yogurt in show as well as a gold award for our new range of four flavours for Yorkshire Yogurt is truly a credit to the whole team.

The Wensleydale Creamery prides itself on using traditional methods to handcraft cheese to time-honoured recipes, using milk from local farms to supply a broad range of customers including major multiple retailers, exporters, wholesalers and the food service sector. A multi-million pound investment in the Wensleydale Creamery and visitor experience this year, marks a significant milestone for cheese-making in the Dales.
