British Sandwich Week

The origin of the sandwich can be traced back to the 18th Century. John Montagu, the Fourth Earl of Sandwich, was a prolific gambler and legend has it he would ask his valet to bring him meat between two slices of bread as a meal, in order that he didn’t need to leave the gaming table. As time went on, his companions began to ask for “the same as Sandwich” – and so the sandwich was born! In the present day, the sandwich is a highly popular snack or light... Read More

British Pie Week

Here in the UK, we’re famous for our love of pies – particularly in the North! The origin of the pie can be traced back as far as the ancient Greeks, who created a makeshift pastry to place over meat for cooking, to help keep the juices in.
