The Wensleydale Creamery Scoops Top Prize at 2014 Dalesman Awards

Held on Sunday 18th May at Broughton Hall, the Dalesman Awards celebrate the best of Yorkshire, with awards ranging from Entrepreneur of the Year and Yorkshireman/Woman of the year to the Rural Tourism Award. Marking their 75th anniversary, this year’s event was particularly special, with renowned Yorkshire poet and author Ian McMillan hosting the event and presenting the awards.

The Wensleydale Creamery was one of many shortlisted for the award, which was voted for by Dalesman readers. The Creamery came out on top owing to the delicious authentic products in their range, including their PGI protected Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese.  Creamy, crumbly and full of flavour, Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese is the only Wensleydale cheese to be handcrafted to a time-honoured recipe using milk from local family farms in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.

David Hartley, Managing Director at The Wensleydale Creamery, said: “We are delighted to receive this award, as it is a real honour to be recognised by our customers and Dalesman readers as a Yorkshire icon.  At The Wensleydale Creamery we strive to preserve our heritage and provenance, and take great pride in maintaining the quality and authenticity of our cheese, which makes it taste truly unique.  So it is fantastic for us to see that this is also of great importance to our customers.”
