Unveiling our new natural cheese smokehouse

If you love smoked cheese, you’re in for a treat!

The team here at the Creamery have been busily working away over the last few months, setting up our brand-new cheese smokehouse!

Our talented cheesemakers have over 30 years’ experience of smoking cheese here in Hawes and our new exciting investment means that we can more than double our production.

Using the latest smoking technology, the new smokehouse will enable us to increase our naturally smoked cheese range, with a variety of natural smoked wood flavours such as Oak, Beech and Hickory which are sourced from Forest Stewardship Certified sites and sustainably managed woodlands.

Smoking cheese is a real artform and results in an deliciously elevated and enhanced flavour, as well as preserving the unique texture and quality of the cheese, which takes on a beautiful golden-brown rind.

Alongside giving a rich, smokiness, the process also serves as a natural preservation method that doesn’t require any artificial flavours, colours or preservatives.
